How We Work

Once you engage CriticalBiz, you’ll find that we’re really easy to work with. In fact, we require very little direction from you once we have the initial work order. And if you’re concerned about the virtual aspect of our business, don’t be. We’ve been working virtually for many years.

The Process

After you contact us for the very first time, we’ll want to schedule a brief phone call to better understand your needs and if we can meet them. There is no charge for this initial call and it should not last more than 15-30 minutes. We will not offer any business advice during this call.

After the initial call and if we’re a good fit, we’ll send you our Annual Terms. Both parties must sign this document before any work can begin. If pre-payment is required (i.e.: retainer fees, third-party vendor fees, etc.), we’ll invoice you once the Annual Terms document has been executed. Invoices are usually due upon receipt. We accept checks and online credit card payments via PayPal. There are fees associated with PayPal payments and those fees may be included on your invoice.

As work progresses, almost all communication between the two of us is carried out via email. You may receive random updates from us, or questions that we need answered to move forward. We rarely call you unless we’ve agreed that a call is required or beneficial. Your single point-of-contact will be Michael Turner unless there is a reason to chat with one of our contractors.

Whenever we begin or resume working on your project, we “punch-in” to our time-tracking software. If we take a break—no matter how brief—we “punch-out.” Your time is tracked by the second, although rounded to the nearest minute. A detailed invoice will be emailed to you in PDF format at the end of the month and will show everything we did, how long we spent doing it and what it cost you. You may notice that we were doing two things at one time on the invoice. This happens when more than one person (i.e.: one of our contractors) is also working on the project.
